Default Help With 93 civic stereo wiring??

Ok the problem is very simple, i think. I had my stereo repaired after a break in and now i cant get the unit to power up. I had it working after the break in and before the repair but somehow now its not getting power. I've checked the red 12v battery line and its working good, but the white/blue/grey ignition wire is only giving me around 4.5v? So thats the problem i assume, but then why is this happening and how do i fix it? I dont see how it worked then stopped working when i was getting it repaired.

please help
thanks

Sounds like a partially blown fuse or bad shunt in the fuse box. If you can measure 4.5volts go to the fuse in the fuse panel and check it there.

I've seen this happen in a few Civics, including a 98. Fuse wasn't blown, but I've seen fuses go bad to the point they look good but drop the voltage to as little as 2 volts. Try changing the fuse for the Radio.

If this doesn't help, you can always run a new accessory wire to the radio's harness from another accessory source in the car, just make sure you fuse the link as close to the point where you tap the other wire as possible. If your cigarette plug still has 12V's you can use it, as it's switched with accessory in hondas.

keep in mind the fuse for the radio is under the hood on the pass side by the firewall

I was thinking of that fuse also, but he did say the constant power is fine, which is what that fuse is for

WOW thanks guys this gives me a lot of ideas to check out. Where exactly is this fuse under the hood, the ones on the passenger side right. I'll check out all this stuff and let you know how it goes once i get back from a trip.

When the car was brooken into how was the deck removed. Sometimes they rip them out and wire on the honda wire harness can get loose. or riped out of the harness. You should take the deck out and check the wires if it is not a fuse.
