Best carbon fiber hood for a JRSC'ed B18B?

for those of you who know anything about jrscs, they can produce quite a bit of heat after prolonged use. there are very few ways to cool them down except for a scant few places offering intercoolers at prices exceeding $1000. what i would like to know is, what is the best hood for cooling a jrsc'ed engine? im expecting something vented, but possibly something even with a "ram air" like quality. i already have a cai, but i know that isnt enough to keep a jrsc cool.
Look around for pictures of Jay Smith's blue Integra. He had a cowl induction type setup utilizing his cowl hood. Doesn't look all that great, but I bet it gets the job done better than any other hood mod.
His car has been on here. I typed in "jay smith" in an archived search and found some pics of it, but you can barely make out the cowl mod. I'm sure someone has it. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

You would be looking for a WRX type hood that will direct air onto the manifold to prevent heatsoak. I dont even think that would make much of a difference though.

im already lookin for a cf hood for some weight reduction and i thought that if i could get rid of some of the underhood heat, that would be a great bonus.
i like the wrx type hood you described, but i doubt something like that exists. tell me if it does though.

No idea...I would think it does somewhere, but all Ive seen is the VIS invader/Mugen type hoods.
It would be ugly as sin IMO...not worth any cooling benefits which I would estimate to be slim to none.

the hood is raised (a lot of people do that to their cars in Japan, to cool down the engine)

what about one of those slap on fake hood scoops? theyre really cheap (i got a tight budget) and they might be able to be made to be functional. how would that look, what kind of work would i be looking at, and how good would it actually be?

the best option as far as being easy, functional, and looking good, is the usual reverse vented hood. It will get heat away from the header and I would assume help create some airflow under the hood, and pressure differences would pull some cool air up from below the engine. I belive VIS makes a pretty good reverse vented hood. Good luck!

Hmm...something custom would probably be your best bet. Or search for a company that makes some hideous "ram air" Integra hood.
If you could cut a hole in the middle of the hood and somehow bend the CF down...I have no idea how to fabricate these things, but it sounds like its wayyy more trouble than its worth.
Edit: What fake hood scoops are you talking about? Meaning, cutting a hole in the hood and placing some scoop on top of the hole? I dont know man...if you had a good shop make it look nice, I guess thats an option, but the hood would still look like **** if you ask me. And probably expensive too.

yeah, but there really aren't any good alternatives, besides cutting holes and fitting vents/scoops. The vent might help create some air flow from the back of the engine bay, I dunno...I guess the Evo style hood is the best option as far as looks and what-not for any sort of venting...BTW, I belive Cerveni or some company makes a Camaro SS style hood with scoop (hideous looking, though) out of fiberglass that could work for you...

yeah, i know of the cervinis ss hood. no way in hell id want that god awful thing. maybe cutting out vents and putting in a mesh would work, but how would i prevent rusting of my hood on the cut parts?

could you rig something underneith the hood vent so it'll direct flow at the s/c?

Some rustoleum might work...you could try integrating some fiberglass into the hood vents, that would seal any rust problems. This dude with a Toyota Paseo (I think) had a JDM motorswap form some car that never came here, it was a SOHC turbo. He did a custom scoop for the top mount IC and fiberglassed it into the hood, very good work.
As far as directing airflow to the SC, Home Depot is your friend.
Snoop around there, I'm sure there are some useful things to be had...

im kinda liking the cut out vent idea. its sounding like the most cost effective way to go. all id need is some stainless steel or aluminum grill mesh. what about rain or snow getting in? would that be any major problem?
