reduces parasitic losses on the crank, hence, lowers the amount of lost hp from the crank to the wheels. I've seen a dyno for my gen car (4th gen) which showed a 3.5hp gain from removing the belt alone. You need to drain the fluid from the system however, it'll make steering a little easier, and also it will stop anything from getting messed up.

Explain how you have a car that has power steering, and you remove the pump and make steering EASIER??

Isn't the rack just assisted by the hydralic pump which allows you to steer? And by removing the pump you lose the power to steer? Wouldn't you have to install a rack and pinion system in the car or are they already rack and pinion, just hydralically assisted? Please explain.
