Alright, im getting sick of being stopped by the state police on the highway cause my exhaust is "too loud". It didnt use to be like this, but ever since I installed my header, it has been loud and raspy sounding.. Now my question is.. how can i fix this? I want it to at least be a quieter deeper tone.. but i dunno how to obtain this? Someone told me to get a APEXi style muffler and that would fix the raspiness, but what about fixing the loudness a little? As you can see, this is the type of muffler i have right now. please help me out, i gotta get this fixed ASAP, im sick of getting tickets! By having a bigger inlet/outlet, does it just make it louder, or can it possibly make it quieter..sorry if this seems dumb, i just dont know much about exhausts..

Well the Greddy and HKS have always been an OG quiet system
You can always just add another silencer from the cat on.
I've added the Moroso Turbo Muffler (as a presilencer) to a STR8 through type muffler with good results.
The general rule is the Bigger and fatter the muffler, the more quiet it is.

hmm, well i dont have much money.. so what would be the cheapest muffler i could get that would make it somewhat quieter than the one i have now?
an ebay "APEXi copy" one, would that work?
Also, another weird ?, what if i just took off the tip i have right now, and had them weld an Apexi muffler onto the 90 degree piping? Would that do anything, or am I just insane and have no clue what im talking about

go buy a cherry bomb stright through muffler and get it welded on somewhere after the cat, i know it sounds ricey but if you dont wanna get anymore tickets it's a good idea, it'll also make your exuast tone deeper and shouldnt as much resinate much if if did befor
just insane bro...lol, just have a mufflershop weld on a resonator into your system somewhere...it'll make it quiet, or you can always get a magnaflow...they're decently quiet as well

****, well that sounds a little expensive.. agg! =[ i think ill just get an Apexi type muffler and see where to go from there. Last time i asked a muffler shop about a resonator, they quoted me like 200$.. i was like **** that.
look into MOroso products...Moroso spiral resonators in the exhaust pipe will do the job, Your only option.

Go to a local muffler shop not a chain. They will usually installa resonator for $30-$40. Keep looking till you find an honest shop. DO NOT GO TO MIENIKE!
my friend has this loud exhuast problem too. so hes gonna try putting on a 2 1/2 INCH glass pack before the muffler, he says its the same as a resonator. will this work?
I would buy a resonator first. The longer it is, the quieter the exhaust will be. Check out Performance-Curve on ebay. They've got the cheapest prices I've found on magnaflow products. They don't have everything listed on ebay, but you can call them to see if they have what you need. I just called them today and they want $60 shipped for a Magnaflow 22" resonator. Next to them, http://www.hottexhaust.com has the next best prices.
like eveyone else said,
resonator will fix the job, they roughly cost between 20 and 50 bucks, install should be no more than 50 bucks.
apexi mufflers will not change the loudness of your exhuast, if anything it would make it louder, and i should know i have an apexi..
check out my sig then goto the movies and download the dyno vid that will give you and idea of how loud apexi exhaust are.
