b16 swap into 91 civic hatch, problem :(
hey guys i just completed my swap a lil while ago but put in a nwe tranny last nite,, its an LS transmission has vss and everything like that on it
now the problem is that my vtec wont work
its throwing out code 7 on the ecu which is only throttle position sensor, anyone know why vtec isnt kickin in?
i thikn it MAY be the wirring, the guy that i had to do it might have screwed up, and i still paid him 100 bux
im gonna talk to him it might be that,,, is it easy to wire it up any kind of info would be great, thanks

Well when you get a code, the motor goes into a limp mode and that could cause the vtec not to work and could also lower your redline.
did everything work before the new tranny? I was going to say, many times the TPS will get damaged or broken in motor shipment. You may just need a new one.
hmmm alright k thanks guys, i'll try putting in a new TPS sensor and see if that works,,, also im using a vtec activation switch to engage vtec right now basically tricking my ecu to switch the cam lobe but the fuel map doesnt change, is this damaging my engine?
at the Hondata website they state that the VTEC and non-VTEC fuel maps differ about 10%. Unless your car is running very rich, forcing the high lift cam to engage could lean out the A/F ratio enough to cause detonation. Personally I think the MAP sensor would correct for some of this, but I'd still reccommend using the VTEC ECU.
