Default Are Crankshaft replacements common for high HP engines?

I've seen alot of members set-ups for their cars, some in the 12 second range and below. But I have'nt noticed anyone who has upgraded their crankshaft/camshaft.

Do they ever snap or bend under high HP engines? They don't seem to be on anyone's list of worries or upgrades to their cars. Is there any history of them breaking? or being upgraded past any particular HP?

Maybe I should ask.

Has anyone replaced/upgraded their crankshaft on their car? And if so, what was your reasoning for doing so?

The only time us Honda/Acura guys are changing the cranks is when the motor are setup for a different stroke to increase displacement.

The downside of it, is that its more money for the crank and the rods. Most of the time, its easier to just increase the displacement by sleeving and going Big bore.

Myth also is that Stroker motors dont last as long. I dont totally agree(on the decreased longevity) but it does make a motor setup a bit more complicated.

Yeah, the stock cranks are strong enough for just about anything you can throw at them . . . . Forged & balanced right from the factory. Even the fastest drag guys all use the stock cranks, I believe (although somewhat massaged, I'm sure).

I'm sure Crower would be happy to whip one up for you, but it ain't gonna be cheap . . .

Micropolish? sounds self explanitory. You used some sort of rust/scrape removing liquid to strengthen it? Or did you kind of take a wire brush to it and just clean it up?

the machine shop does that, they polish the the bearing contact surfaces, so that is very smooth, helping bearings
