Honestly, I have had no luck getting those plugs at my local NAPA, and NAPA has more **** than Autozone or Poop Boys.

I always order BKR7es from SUmmit Racing

Your only gonna need 1 step colder. If your running more than 400hp with high compression, most of the veterans recommend going 2 steps colder.

2 steps colder IS always recommended for turbo application.
1 step colder is for light nitrous applications.

colder spark plug helps reduce heat in the chamber (if i rember correctly) which helps cut down on detination. you also should reduce the gap to like .032"

This should help some:

And yes, if you aren't running 400 horse, 2 step colder is to much. Just go 1 step colder.

if you run plugs that are too cold, you run the risk of fouling your plugs. This would basically happen when you are in traffic or waiting at a red light. no fun

I'm going to try and run one step colder, I seem to get fouled plugs at idle with teh current 2 heat range colder plugs, but I can deal with that, I'm just more concerned with det.

Werd, I'd rather have foulded plugs than blowded up pistones.

The reason to go with a colder plug is that the plug tip retains a certain amount of heat to clean itself. The heat is much higher when turbocharged. Hotter plugs will retain more heat and can actually start glowing and cause preignition and detonation. I am much more conservative when it comes to plug heat ranges. I run a number 7 NGK to about 300whp or about 10-12psi on pump gas. I run a Number 8 plug to 450-475whp and number 9 past that. I also assume that the cars I tune or build are going to be beaten to death. Meaning a lot of Top end runs to 140+ (very popular in Texas.. I dont know why) and hot laps at the drag strip. When you run a car hard like that A LOT of heat gets built up in the combustion chambers. Thats a lot of heat for the plugs to see (theyre sitting in the middle of it.) So the colder the plug the less likely they are to heat up to the point where they would glow and possibly preignite the air/fuel mix.

At least that what I heard.
