I think thats it for now, definently plan on getting a new intake/header setup when i get some money. The car was dynoed a few days ago and put down like 168whp
. My friends took the car there for me and the tuner said the timing belt was loose, temperature sensor wasnt plugged in on the intake mani, and a few other little things. What do yall think, i was def. expecting some more hp, but im guessing my biggest issue is i need compression! Thanks for input...
Also...lots of thanks to Steve at SGT racing...he put up with a lot of bs from me, awesome tuner and good person

sounds about right...i mean, not being harsh, but you cant expect THAT good of numbers with low compression and stuff unplugged/no headwork with those cams.
its not that bad, you can't exect too much with a stock bottom end. Put a test pipe on there and a skunk2 intake mani (assuming its a c1) and thats definetely more power. It only goes up from here!
ok a stock b18c makes what, 150 to the wheels with bolt ons? you pretty much have intake header exhaust and cams and your makin 18hp over a b18c with bolt ons. i wouldnt be dissapointed. those cams love comression though man, get it to like 11.5:1 and youll be alot happier

yeah, its really all about the compression there... with those cams especially

hmm, if the timing belt is loose(maybe stretched?) is your cam and ignition timing OK? I didn't notice cam gears there, in your list of stuff, so that maybe could help a couple hp. not a lot, but a little anyway..

id run open header next time. ive got a jdm b18c which has a little higher comp than you, sk2 manifold, jdm itr header and hondata, oh yeah, a k&n on some random *** stick. I made 182/131 open header. compression with help obvioulsy, as well as cam gears.

Easy now ian, hp isn't everything and it is a stock bottom end and hooked up to the exhaust with cats. he takes all that off and i bet his numbers improve greatly, his numbers are pretty much where the should be, he probably isn't even using his cams power capabilities with the low compression.

was that 168 with the sensor unplugged or was everything fixed then it was dyno'd ? cause 168 with a 2 layer mugen gasket, some cam gears and a decent ECU generally yields in the 180-185 range even with stock GSR intake manifold.
Have your tuner check the condition of your motor and also show us some a/f graphs with your dyno and we go from there.
Also, I was never a fan of a JDM DC header but to each his own i guess ... i'd take a jdm ITR 4-1 ... **** I'd take a CTR 4-2-1 before a DC !!!

So was Steve the one who did the tuning? If not, I'm sure he'd be able to find whatever power was left in that engine. If he was, did he offer any other explanations, suggestions, etc.?

went your refering to a b18c is that the gsr - j spec or itr motor ??
on your future mods you should try to bump the CR , Toda cams love high CR and you will see more gains . Also do you have cam gears , since it dont mention on your list . That would help !!

What he said.
What he said.
the sensor was unplugged yes and there were some vaccum lines also unplugged...so im sure that had some to do with it. Since i fixed those, the car seems to be running a lot better. I def. do need more compression though, but for now im just happy its running good.
