HF is a gas guzzler

well, i got a 88 hf and it is using alot of gas, and it passed smog yesterday, i chaged out the plugs. but why could it be using so much gas?

When i first got my CRX years ago, it had what looked like the original oxygen sensor. It only threw a code once in a while, but it was still old enough to cost me nearly 5mpg.
Just do a basic tuneup.
