OT? Honeymoon in Japan (JGTC)
this is sorta off-topic. i would not mind at all if it is deleted.
anyway, i am trying to plan my honeymoon and convinced my fiance to agree to a trip to japan.
her only criteria is that we go to sanrioland in Tokyo.
well i want to integrate a JGTC race or some other racing event into our vacation (she knows this). does anyone have any information (websites (the JGTC site is in japanese!)? good travel agency?) on what things there are to do there? i'm looking for road-race related. honda museum? MOTO GP? other JGTC-type events? being a race fan, is there anything that i should definitely not miss while i'm there??
we would stay in tokyo and fuji speedway and the motegi twin ring are the two closest tracks...

When is your Honeymoon planed? Motegi is going to be your best bet. Close to Tokyo (probably around $100 one way by train) and also the home of the Honda museum.
Motegi is next month of the 2003 schedule. http://www.jgtc.net/race/2003/03schedule.htm
Fuji speedway is also a good option. Much closer to Tokyo then Motegi (about $40 one way). Both are easy to get to by train + bus.

Get used to it kid .. they speak Japanese in Japan you know.

Thanks for the info! i'm trying to find resources for both those tracks now. it's good to know that they are easy to get to by train. the wedding is next may, but the honeymoon may not be right after the wedding depending on where we go.

Hehe. Here are Engrish version of the track sites.
Motgi: http://www.twinring.jp/english....html
Fuji: http://www.fujispeedway.co.jp/....html
You should still try to be farmiliar with the Japanese for station names, lines, and buses. They will have English signs for the trains (though small and much harder to figure out where to go then the Japanese ones). Buses have very little English.
Once you get to the stations close to the tracks, you can also take Taxi. But the cost is 10X easy.
There are a couple of good web sites for car tourism in Tokyo. I go for the food and to hang out, so I have not gone to Spoon or any of that stuff the 5 or so times I have gone. Can't help ya out there. Japan is a very cool place to visit. I am planning to go again in Nov.

i second the Motegi track. It is a beautiful facility. I is a huge place. I myself have been trying to plan a time to go when there is JGTC race.
The Honda museum is huge and great. Could easily spend a couple hours there. They also have a Honda technology building. You can drive the Motegi track, virtually. There is also two go cart tracks. Ride the 50cc carts, get good enough time and then you can ride the 90cc carts. There is a "wet" driving course and skid plate course. Took the "wet" driving course but didn't have enough time for the skid course. Wish i had info on Fuji Speedway but the day we were going to go it was stormy, so we didn't go.
Been to Spoon and Honda Twin-cam, honestly not much to look at.
Japan is a great place to visit. Most Japanese speak English at places you visit. It is just the places in between. Traveling can take alot of time and energy. For the first visit i would find it frustrating with out any help. Not trying to talk you out of it. Just a heads up.
