Default JUST GOT BACK FROM THE TRACK! 13.9

13.9 @6psi on a b16 hatch w/ full interior, a toolbox, and spare tire in the back, on stock steels w/ oem tires, and pump gas.
trap speed was 107mph, with a .730 reaction. 60ft was 2.4.

i feel like it was a good run....
does it sound about right? great? or horrible?

Looks like traction's your biggest issue with a 13.9@107 and your 2.4 60 ft. Get some wider wheels with stickier rubber (for example gsr rims w/ falken azenis) and you should be able to get that 60 ft. down to a 2.0-2.1. With that you can probably hit a very low 13. What're the dimensions of your current tires? The weight (~25lb.?)of your steel rims is also hurting your launch. The 107 shows you're making good power though.

I ran a 13.9 on my first run ever on a track at 10psi in a 00 si with full interior and street tires. My trap speed was way lower than yours though..100mph. whats your setup?

my boost controller wasnt working right, so i made one of those internet brass/ball bearing/spring ghetto boost controllers, and it was spiking 16psi, and for ragging on the car at the track i needed it to hold something safe and consistent....so i just took it out and left it at the wastegates spring.

this is my setup
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=594479

it was actually pretty funny, because when i went to get my slip, the girl at the booth freaks out and is like 'where is ur helmet!?' and im like 'what? did i run in the 13's?' and she's like 'yes, you cant run anymore til you get a helmet'.... needless to say at that point i cheered!

the helmet would have weighed you down and made u get a 14.0 in which case the helmet isn't needed.... thats a catch22 though the helemt weight thing is b.s. in anycase go get a helmet better tires and a better clutch

Duuuude. 107 mph, and you ran 13.9?!?! WTF.

My car had seriously 3-4 degrees of camber, toe out the ***, and I let off at the 1000 foot mark and still ran a 13.8 at 102 on 185/65/14 steelies off a stock 1996 LX Civic.

Burning allll the way through second on the track was fun, though.

Down here at Englishtown you either wear a helmet or you don't race. Even if you're running a 22. You also need to wear pants. Don't ask me why.

yup, helmet, long pants, and nothing shorter than a t-shirt. they dont want exposed shoulders or knees. i'll be going there today to see where spending all this money has put me

I went 13.7@107 in my ITR with a 2.3 60ft with the afc hack(which sucks) like everyone said get a good clutch and good tires and you will go low 13's

my clutch feels pretty good, if i pop it hard enough, the dash almost trys to get in my lap, and the motor mounts get raped.....without going to pure pucks, ive got the step right below a puck clucth...act stage 3.

next time i go, i'll work on the launch more, i was launching at like 2,300rpm....
near 6k and up on the tach and it starts breaking the tires loose in 1st gear, 2nd gear just chirps them the whole time, then one final chirp once i slam 3rd.

i even let some air pressure out of the tires to try to help.
i need slick ultimately to get the best time possible

just as a side note, ive had a serious coolant issue with the car for a while https://honda-tech.com/zerothre...56134
, and at the track i would just keep topping off the radiator.... i did a compression test, and every tells me im making stupid compression for the ratio of pistons i have.

i was hitting about 150 psi across the board, give or take 2% -/+....at 9.8:1 compression ratio...

ive been told that 150 is to be expected for low compression pistons, somewhere in the neighborhood of 8.0:1, so i probably have a bad headgasket that isnt even doing the motor any justice.

so if i get my compression back up into the 170-180's psi (since 9.8 is a little lower than stock for a b16) my motor in turn will crank out more power correct? meaning i could pull an even faster trap speed @6psi?.......

needless to say, im gunna do a leak down test today and get this thing running right.

107 is a nice trap, can you post the slip or at least type it up?

lmao ! We always make fun of that, pants will help you when you roll the car and hit the wall a few times...it'd be a disaster if you had shorts on !

p.s. they don't check

I don't care what tires/rims you run, hehe unless they are 17s...you should be able to get that 60ft down to a 2.2x..and drop the 1/4 .2-.3 just by working on the launch some.

That looks like a solid mid 13 second car to me, if you can get the launch down a bit better.

And seriously, buy a helmet..hehe

On a side note, any track that runs NHRA/IHRA events requires long pants, and does not allow sleeveless shirts.

Was this at Rivercity or Alamo raceway? I didn't know you needed a helmet if you run 13s. I ran a 13.6 with traction problems and got my slip and no one said anything to me about a helmet.

Here in Jersey you have to wear a helmet no matter what, at Atco or Englishtown. When I was at Maple Grove in PA I was wonderin why the hell people were racing without helmets on cuz I never saw that before.
