Crower stage 2 or Skunk stage 2
My 2.2 has a milled head of .030(NA) and right now I have skunk 2 stage 1 cams. My head consist of Crower valvetrains, so I was wondering if its better to get the crower or skunk stage 2?
go with skunk 2s. skunk 2 stage 2 cams (which i have) is 2 horse power less than jun 3s. but, its all depends on what you want to do.
just make sure your compression is high. since you milled the head thats a good start. you may want to look in to skunk 2 high compression valves and domed pistons.

I run crower stage 3's. It gives me a stock idle and Is a little more streetable. but skunk 2's dont really have a bad idle either though.
Im exactly opposit of you. I run all skunk valve train and have crower cams.

You havent looked around then.
Miguel made 205whp on JUN 3's untuned with an ITR motor and I/H/E...so now you have seen more with JUN 3's
Just saw you have an H22 correct..... 1.8L vs 2.2L....your H22 should be well past 200whp with cams just a thought

My buddy has Jun3's in his GSR with jun header, aem typer cai, and exhaust and only made 175whp. I don't think the Jun3's would make over 200 with the h22. Check http://www.importreview.com. There are 2 with the Crower stage 2's that are 204-206 range. And some with the Jun3's that are less.
go with the skunk. ive heard alot about crower cams breaking. also i think skunk tends to be more aggressive per stage- like skunk stage 2 is just about equal crower st 3, and so on...

I've heard that w/ Jun cams, you need to run stock valvetrains to get the most hp out of it.
Man some of you guys are producing a hella a lot more hp than my setup with my setup. And some of you guys on;y have i/h/e WTF!

i've seen alot of crower cams break,
, i actually seen a post here on HT about it also</TD></TR></TABLE>
some people said that the crower cams that used to break were the first one they produced but the new ones don't? any answer on that, or anyone the new ones and breaking it?

Go with somthing OTHER than Crower ... I have Stage 2 Crowers in my B16B ... and I don't really like them ....
I going to try the Stage 2 Crane cams ... I think the will work better.

What compression are you guys running with your skunk2 stage 2 cams? I'm going with 12:1?

My LS VTEC w/stock ITR pistons & stock B16a head NO mill stock ported throttle body made 204 whp on a DYNO JET.And our 2.0 12:8 comp LS VTEC made 242 whp on a DYNO JET. Keep in mind both cars made this power through the muffler w/Skunk 2's stage 2.
On my B16, I went from 179.4whp & 114.9lbs @ 8500rpm with ITR cams, to 190.0whp & 121.0lbs @ 8700rpm with Sk2 stg2 cams.
That's a 10.6whp bump, and both were tuned with a Hondata stg2.

I just put Sk2 Stg2 in my car last week runs Ok , had to change my VTEC Xover though to 6200. taking it to the dyno friday hopefully I can get 180 to the wheels
You guys have to remember that he has a H22 engine and not a B-series motor. The Skunk2 Stage 2's might be great on the B18/B16, but who knows on the H22. I haven't seen any dyno results with the Skunk2's, just Crower and JUN.

I would go with the JUN cams fo the H22 simply because they learned from their mistake with the first batch of B series cams. They also campain a 280whp H22 prelude for testing....I think they have researched their H22 cams for a while now...as far as their valvetrain I would measure bind height just to be sure as I would anyway...the last thing you want is piston to valve contact and valvesping binding/floating
In the end it will most likely come down to personal experience and testing....so maybe try them both out and see what your setup likes...or dont and always wonder

I personally saw a jdm h22 with i/h/e and jun3 cams do 195whp and 155ftlbs. Untuned with stock ecu.. Pretty dam impressive.. Id go with jun on this motor for sure.. If it were a b series Id say go with the skunks, same profiles as jun..half the price.
Do you guys with the skunk 2 camshaft have any problems with it hitting things? This is what I read from crower.com
Note: At .500" valve lift retainer hits valve guide in stock head configuration.

If you look at the specs of the Jun cams for H22 & skunk2 stage 2's. The JUN cams only have like 10 thousandths less lift (like .496) and the skunk 2's are like (.505) and the jun's only have like a couple degree's different duration too. So for the price you getting a bigger cam for less. Makes sense to me...
I'm gonna get a pic of my stage 2 lobes...hang on..
alright

Just look at those mountains for cam lobes.
