Theres a guy local to me that has a 91 tranny. He says its a PL3/9000. ive never seen this one before...I know the si tranny is PL3/3000 and the smaller bearing trannies are PL3/A000 - A100 but whats PL3/9000? 4dr EX? Are the trannies in the 4dr ex different than the SI? thanks

PL3/b000=SI?? All the SI trannies ive seen say PL3/3000. Hmmm, can anyone confirm that the PL3/9000 is a SI tranny?

not really
i just rebuilded a PL3/9000 and it was a CRX Si tranny
Si trannies have the PL3/x000 termination where the x=1,3,9
and DX trannies and others have the PL3/xy00 where the x= a letter like A and y=a 3,9

we had a PL3/9000 that was from a 90 Civic Si, however these PL3 numbers have nothing to do with what gears are inside (another Honda myth) - these numbers are casting numbers for the case and relate to the bearing sizes - we have had or still have PL3/A000-88 Si, PL3/3000-90 Si, PL3/3000-89 ZC, PL3/3000-91 DX, PL3/A000-88 HF, PL3/A000-89 STD (4spd), PL3/3000-90 EX and PL3/9000-91 EX - don't buy a PL3/3000 and expect it to be Si, it might not be!
