I know a LSD doesn't give you more power, it makes the power you have more efficient. Is there any quantifiable comparison for the advantage you get from using a LSD vs more horsepower.

Like if I had the choice of spending $xxx for an LSD or spening that same amount for 20HP-worth of stuff, would it be a better result to go with the LSD or the HP?

 

i would choose the lsd.

 

it depends... if you are bone stock I would tell you to spend the loot on a CAI, motor mounts, and an exhaust... or the Hondata flash and the gasket... you'll enjoy them more. If you have all of that stuff I would go with the LSD. but that's just me...

 

if you're gonna get an lsd you might as well upgrade everything. i.e. clutch, flywheel that way you won't have to crack the tranny open again. that's when you... go boost. i know i'm gonna get it from the N/A guys.

 

I've got the Quaife LSD, exedy clutch, fidanza flywheel, and TSX Final Drive all pending install as soon as i get my N/a beast back. The final drive is not a for sure just yet, but ill test it out

For the record, I auto-x 20-30 times a year, and an LSD would kick me out of STS, so Im not going to buy one anytime soon. But someday, I might move on to more modified classes.

Im just trying to figure out how much a difference an LSD makes by comparing it to something I can visualize like HP. It must come into play when exiting corners quite a bit and in sweepers...which is where alot of auto-x folks lose thier efficiency.

I guess the best way to find out would be to get a ride with a FF driver who has one sometime.

 

You can throw in an LSD and run in STX. Running against the Scoobys and the TypeRs may not be much fun but it's probably better than running in SP or SM
