I got an aftermarket cd player that I was going to take out of a 1994 civic ex coupe and put in a 1996 civic hatch. My hatch console looks like this one:


My question is, I wanted to install the radio in the place of the oem radio close to the top of the console but the shape of the radio definantly dosn't match so I don't think I can install it there. So what I was thinking about is installing the radio in the lower location right over the cup holder.

1. If I install the radio in the lower location, what face plate or cover or something can I get to cover the hole from removing the stock oem radio in the upper location?

2. If I want to install the radio in the top location, what do I have to do to make it fit correctly?

If anybody has any pictures of aftermarket radios installed in the lower area, and has a face plate to cover where the oem upper radio used to be, please post pictures.

If anybody installed an aftermarked radio in the top slot where the oem radio used to be, please post pictures of that too, I want to see how you made the different shape fit.

get a metra installation kit from best buy, or if you want to cover the top, get an oem radio block from the older crx's

 

Thanks for the pictures. Your radio is my same radio but a little smaller lcd, but same buttons and button shapes. I'll get that kit today after work Thanks again for the fast help. Looks like I'm going for the top.

the installation kit makes it fit fine, and it covers up any gaps

 

I didnt use a kit and this is how mine fit.



But im going to mount mine down low so theifs cant see it as well. Just waiting for my EX cup holders to come in. I made a CD block off out of carbon fiber.
