Default b16 failed emissions (TX)

I just tried to get my car inspected yesterday, and my car failed. The only number too high was Nox. Test went like this...

25 mph test

standard: 1512 my car: 2524

15 mph test

standard: 1657 my car: 2638

Do you guys think its my 185k cat? or something else?

If it is the cat does anyone in the dallas area have a good one i can borrow?

I dunno exactly what he said either. But I would try getting a new cat. It's more than likely the problem, that was my main problem with my hatch, and I had almost the same amount of miles as you.

Try replacing that and let us know how it goes.. Just to save you some time, you're not gonna be able to buy a used anywhere unless it's from an individual. It's illegal to sell used ones, I don't know why though. I know this is true in both AZ and GA, so I'm sure it's in all 50. Just letting you know.

Good luck!

Man, I'm glad I'm in Austin where we don't have to go through that. Try another cat, if I was closer I'd let you take mine; try to find someone locally that will either give you their cat or at least let you borrow it. Good luck.

You should try bribing the inspection guy... 50 bucks should get you through.

i do have a test pipe i would let someone use if needed while i borrowed thier cat, but i think slowpokesi has the right idea if i cant borrow one, to get one off ebay, they go for cheap.

normally you only have 15 days to retest it, but the guy told me i could come back any time and he would do it for free after the 15

i dont think hamms would charge you if you fail... ive only seen one person fail there... some old mexican guy whos car looked like the griswolds green station wagon from national lampoons vacation... the ref just told the guy to leave... i went to numerous shops and failed and was not charged before i found hamms... maybe i just got lucky... there is also another shop called t.c. tires across the street from garland high school... they will also do pretty much anything ... good luck
