How to tell what year my ZC Tranny is?
I generally use this as my resource for the D Series Tranny
http://www.d16a.com/d_series_trannys.htm
I need to know if my ZC tranny is an 88
according to that site if there is no marking on the tranny denoting the bearing then it will be an 88 tranny
my tranny has PL3/3000 on the ZC
but then according to that page again if the input shaft has no lines then its an 88
and my tranny has no lines
so which year tranny do i really have? and how would i be able to tell? count the teeth?

Im starting to question the accuracy of that site
Its good info though regardless
I just went outside and counted the splines and the ZC tranny has 21 splines
while my other 89 and 91 tranny has 20 splines
so therefore my ZC is an 88
But on another note...i tried that test at the bottom (spinning shaft 10 times...) to find out what trannies i have
and on my 91 tranny the bearing code says PL3/A000 but when i did the test the mark landed at 8 oclock clearly in SI as the DX would be more like 10 oclock
Soooo...good info on that site but how accurate?
edit if this test is correct then you would have to put the tranny in second gear not first...
