WHO ACTUALLY HAS A FP ANYTHING?
Just wondering, did anyone actually shell out for a FP anything? be it the rsx-s, new accord coupe, new civic coupe fp package, or anything? Just wondering how many people actually have one?
my girlfriend has one! a 2002 civic coupe, full fp package. looks nice, handles awesome. she picked it up for basically the price of a stock civic b/c the dealer was desperate to get rid of it and it was a holdover (she got it in the fall of 02). apparently they had it out front on the lot for a while, and 16 year old kids were trying to test drive it daily just b/c they thought it was fast. they were sick of joyriders so it was in the back of the dealership (basically hiding it) when she went to look at stock civics. i think she ended up paying like 15 for it. then 2 months later someone ran a stop sign and hit her....8 grand in damage with 2K miles. not fair. still a nice car though. a group of 12 year old kids were gawking at it one day and told her it was the hottest car they had ever seen
edit: but i think someone would be insane to pay 30 grand for an rsx with a body kit, wing, springs, and shift ****.

K heres what I looked up, this is what you get for about $4,800:
High performance, track-tuned shocks and springs
Slotted brake rotors and performance brake pads
Lightweight 17x7.5 inch alloy wheels
High performance tires (225/45VR17)
Factory performance rear wing spoiler
Under-body spoiler kit
Metallic look interior trim kit
Factory Performance shift ****
Factory Performance badging
I don't know much about prices but how much money will it cost if you put all those parts together for your non FP RSX-S and consider the time you have to spend putting them together and getting them painted.
And heres a paragraph from the car and drivers web site about the FP
"And if you think you could make your own less-expensive version of the FP by buying el-cheapo bits and putting them on and painting them yourself, we're willing to bet on three things: (1) You'd have spent close to the same money. (2) You'd spend months getting everything to fit properly. (3) The finished product probably wouldn't come close to the factory feel and appearance of our test car. Also, consider this: The FP parts are covered by Acura's four-year/50,000-mile warranty."

Depending what components you choose, a similar build-up will be more or less expensive. In my case, more expensive. But, you get to choose the components you want. And I'll tell you what, My INGS+1 front bumper fits better then my oem bumper. high performance tires? i believe theyre giving out AVSES100's...very crappy. I think my car is going to turn out much better looking then a FP, and i chose all the components for it. And it will definetely outperform it.

Wow, that is ridiculous! For 5grand you could have Teins, Brembos, TE37s, and a032r Yokos. Then forget all the other worthless ****. I hope for the sake of the intellegence of the human race, that they haven't sold any FP parts kits. Screw the warranty, dealers always try to weasle their way out of it, by blaming the problem on the customer anyway.

That, is dumb. A lot of body kits today are high enough quality that you're not going to have fit and finish problems.
As far as suspension, you could easily get an adjustable coilover setup for less than $2K. Or you could just buy the Mugen package for $1000. Brake pads? $150ish for front and back with Carbotechs, Axxis Ultimates, or Cobalts. Slotted rotors are not going to give you much more performance so I'd skip them.
Warranty? Please. When is the last time that anyone, ANYONE, tried to make a warranty claim because of a suspension failure. If you bought quality coilovers chances are you are never going to have a problem, period. So really, the factory warranty on the suspension is not giving you much of anything at all. If the package included a factory-warrantied stroker kit that would be different.
In short, the FP is not a bargain by any of my measures. Its overpriced, its a bad idea, and it is an insult to all of us loyal Honda customers. How is it we went from $2000 more for a Type-R over a GS-R, to $5000 more for an FP over an RSX-S? 2.5 times the money, less value? Yeah right...
