Default NEED HELP TUNING

Hey, i have a gsr motor with a blue print port and polish head done by alaniztechnologies.com, with skunk2 valve train, skunk2 stage2 camshaft, skunk2 adjustable cam, gsr intake manifold with secondary butterfly elimated, B&M fpr and stock header, and stock bottom end. the ecu is stock and vtec enages at 4,800 and fuel pressure set at 50.5. but it blogs and lags alot my vtec dosent take it anywhere just make bunch of noises to scare lil kids.

VTEC looks like it's set too low.

Not sure if that'll solve all of your problems, but it's a place to start

heres part of the problem, big cams with everything else in bold.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by racinghb &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">with skunk2 valve train, skunk2 stage2 camshaft, skunk2 adjustable cam, gsr intake manifold with secondary butterfly elimated, B&M fpr and stock header, and stock bottom end. the ecu is stock and vtec enages at 4800 </TD></TR></TABLE>

and for the finale GSRs VTEC engages at 4400 w/2ndaries at 5000. so u may want to pay more attention where VTEC actually engages. i agree, VTEC is set too low.

Oh **** I didn't notice how much stock stuff he was running. Stock ECU? Why did you eliminate the secondaries then?

Stock header?

And stock compression?

Not trying to be a dick, but did you do any research at all before you did the cams?

seems like the Stock header and C/R, along with the Stock ECU, aren't matched with the cams you chose. the Skunk2 Stg. 2's want to flow more air than the GSR header can take, and they make their power increase with a higher C/R than 10:1.

i once ran the GSR stock IM with and w/o the secondary butterflies, using the stock ECU. the VTEC high cam came on at 4400 rpm, and the 2nd butt. came on at 5700 rpm. when i removed the 2nd butt. altogether (with higher C/R, headwork, timing adjustments, full exhaust system) and used the stock ECU the low end and midrange power was actually better. but you're setup is alot different than my old GSR motor setup. you definantly need higher C/R, an exhaust system to match, and proper tuning of the cams and ECU.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and ask...has it been on a dyno?

Those cams need at least 11:1 compression (the higher the better).
