Is my new header really gonna make a difference?
I just picked up my new DC Sports Header from the local car shop today. When I get it installed am I really gonna notice an improvement?

i never could get my intake with my cai to work-- lol
anywayz, WITHOUT and exhaust your header would be basically a noise maker. Also add a high flow cat to free up some more hp

no.
on paper there MIGHT be a 2-4 hp increase, but you wont notice anything by driving. people will argue with me, but face it, the increase from these mods is very minimal, espesially for the price.
get some cams if you want more hp

not really. The OEM exhaust manifold is already well designed that the gains are minimal, you probably won't notice it with the butt dyno. SCC made a really good header test in 2000 where gains are just a few hp at peak rpm.
The Icebox however, I felt the difference over stock.

I've already replaced the Cam Gears with some AEM adjustables but right now they are just set at 0. I've got a Zex kit installed but have yet to use it. The engine is completely rebuilt but does not have very many kms on it.
If I get the exhaust done from the CAT back will that help fix the bottleneck?

you need to create a need for more air flow before you add a higher flowing exhaust. start with the motor then work your way out. you could have a full exhaust, ie..header, high flow cat, cat back, and maybe notice like 8 hp MAX.
cam gears are a good start, but you really need to get some cams, get teh head done (port and polish) and then you can get an exhaust.

The head has already been done.
I also had a 3 angle valve job
Aluminum Forged Pistons and new connecting rods. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by King_j »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

I was reading on the net that my cams are actually pretty good. What other cams would u suggest.. Type R?

No.. I had the engine rebuilt with the help of my buddy who is actually a deseil mechanic. Carquest did all the machine work and they did a really good job.
how much power a header can add to your engine depends on the header design. from what ive read from the forums, brands like smsp, hytech, and header tech adds alot more that 2-3 hp.

Did u just replace your Header or did you replace the whole exhaust aswell?
