Just finished a motor swap..... but car won't start...... help......
Just finished a motor swap into my car.... damn thing won't start though. it cranks...... but it won't turn over.... i can smell a gas odor after about 15 seconds of cranking...... everything is hook'd up..... i'm not sure what's wrong......
could it be the distributor? it's the SAME one from my old b16a though.... i dont' see why it would go wrong when it was fine on my old b16a....... i even tried jump starting it with another car..... still no go....
anyone have any ideas???

These are the things that come to mind. Not trying to treat you like you don't know anything, just trying to help you cover your bases....
Bad Ground(s) (Check your tranny housing ground)
Timing belt misaligned (off one or more teeth)
Spark Plugs Fouled
Plug wires in wrong firing order
Bad plug wire(s)
Bad Distributor or Components (Ignitor, Coil)
Timing off
Weak battery (if it turns over slow)
Possible bad ECU
It sounds like you are getting fuel. Pull the plugs and make sure. Make sure you are getting spark. You can do this one of two ways. Put a timing light on each spark plug wire and have a friend turn your car over. Or....pull all of the plugs and insert a spark plug (with a ground) into the plug wire. Turn the car over. You should see a spark. Other than that, it's hard to tell you what's wrong without checking it out personally. Best of luck and let me know if you need anything else.

Well, if it's not turnin over, It's not timing or anything like that.
It is probably one of two things:
1.)you don't have all your grounds connected; yout battery is low; your motor is seized
2.)You are using a JDM b16a tranny (or 90-91 US tranny) with a '92-93 starter; your starter is bad.
Now, I know know you can rule some of these out, but these are problems I've had myself. The tranny ground took me FOREVER to find.
Good luck, and keep us posted.

If you mean it does turn over, but doesn't start, then that's different. Do like Dan says and check cam timing and spark plug wires to see if they are on the distributor wrong (I did that on the LSVTEC, dope!). Also, if you've been on the gas the whole time, it's no doubt flooded by now. -C

put a spark plug on one of the wires and see if you are getting spark
