Default s2000 horsepower

My friend is about to start modding her s2000, but it is still under her dads name (she's 17, and a damn lucky lil rich girl) and she was going to start until her dad was told CAI/exaust/header wont add any horsepower. so does anyone know where ican find ome dyno charts or anything, bc i know ts not a whole lot, but it does help and i do know it is the place to start

I kinda gotta agree with Razor. If I were her dad, well I wouldn't have given her an s2k for one, but if I did, I'd make her race at every autox until she could hold her own in BS before modifying it. At 17 the s2k is more than enough car stock.

Please, take the advice of these knowledgable folks. They are not saying this just because she's a girl. The S2000 is more than enough car on the street for MOST people, man or woman. Chances are, if you are testing the limits of this very capable car on the street, then you deserve a big f'ing .

it definitely is enough power.... but on the flip side, I dont know if intake and exhaust would be adding enough power to make her get in trouble with the car, if she is going to have something happen, there is enough chance that it will even happen stock.... but those guys are right, modding that car is asking for even more trouble....

Good point preylude... I guess we should answer the guys question whether we think its a good idea or not. IMO anything you do to the car apart from forced induction will either not be noticable, cost too much, or both. Supercharger kits seem to be the thing right now and they add a substantial amount of power. Thats really all I would do to add some power to an s2k.

also, how does she drive the car? If you dont drive the S hard then I dont know if there is much trouble to be had in the lower rpms unless it would be something that could happen in any other car. Most of the girls I have seen with s2000's didnt even know it offered so much power because they didnt take it up to the higher rpms...However, if it was a roadster she wanted, then her parents could have easily forked out a lot more for a bmw, mercedes or porsche, so on the whole I think it is a good car for her if thats the route they were going to take. So if she wants to put intake, exhaust, and a header on there it should be OK, I dont think those mods would push her over the edge of getting in trouble with the car if she wasnt going to already.

The added grip of better wheels and tire and possibly a suspension set up will further the performance of the car without putting her is extreme high speed or out of control power. Dont offer her more power to where she will lose control, offer her more control on the power. That is what makes driving fun.

i agree with highrpm.... but if she doesnt drive it hard at all I dont see any reason to upgrade anything, leaving it stock will be adequate.

Yes . Intake / Header / Exhaust will add horsepower compared to the restrictive OEM peices ....

For the safety of your friend and others drivers, I would suggest for her to drive her car for at least one year, get some and experience, get use to the feel of the car and then consider more power

Simple modifications such as i/h/e do not add that much horsepower to an S2000. You may benefit the weight reduction much more than you do the HP with exhaust only. Sure, you can throw in a couple of things here and there, but leaving the car stock would be the best idea.

some boltons even make you lose HP, like the HKS hipower catback exhaust. BUT it does sound VERY VERY nice
