ALERT: I found a way to get the gs-r lca bushings out
even fire didn't work for my friends LCA's on his '93 Civic LX. He had to buy an Integra LCA on the drivers side cuz everything was seized. I gave him my passanger side since I upgraded to SRR LCA's and now he can have a rear sway...

Actually. Its only 30% hotter. And I did you MAPP. Untill I read on my torch it says PROPANE ONLY. So I went back to propane. It does the job just as well.

yeah I used Propane.
For my install I went ahead and just bought ITR lca's and shocks that work with ITR's (Koni Yellow for ITR).
that way I could have fun with things like this

Haha I did the same thing when I put my new shocks in. I heated mine up so much it caught fire accidently
Then the metal cylindar would clank around in the LCA bushing until I replaced the bushing heh. Fire Ownz

hey peep this: just a thought but, did anyone consider the heat of the fire actually changing or effecting the properties of the metal in the LCA? Possibly weakening the material just enough so that you dont notice it until the control arm is put under heavy load and quite possibly break??
With safety being our first priority lets take this issue into consideration before anyone else goes and attempts this method.
Is it easier, im sure. But, if there are safety implications im sure we would want to know about it and not place any members at risk.

The control arms are just cast iron, they undergo no heat-treating so there aren't any strength properties from heat treating to be lost. As long as the metal doesn't physically melt you're fine. Go ahead and burn away!!
Edit: slap a coat of rustolem on those badies!!

Valid argument, but cast iron is fine.

My friend and I were using the same trick to burn out bushings from some leaf springs for a Jeep(I used ot build Harecore offroad Jeeps, then dune buggies, now hondas...go figure..)... he was using an Oxy-acetylene torch.. well the bushing melted into liquid, and POP it exploded, and shot melted rubber all over his face. He was OK, but had these black blast-marks all over his face.. I got a picture somewhere.. looked like a road runner cartoon when someone gets blasted with a canon or something, all blackened..
So, face protection, people!!

Looks like you had to cut the bottom of your shock off because of the wheel speed sensor line. Same thing happened to me, it sucked.

but wait... it still wont come out. what do u do?
use air hammer!!
but wait... what about the bushing?
you cut the head of a bolt off. weld it in there. and then air hammer that sucker out too and the outer ring of the bushing comes w/ it. WOOO! I got you all owned w/ this one. haha
