Default CEL Light

How do you check it and apply it to what it really means. How do you connect the led light for the flashes...help...always brought it in for a diag, but now money is tight...willing to learn myself

'92 Accord based on your name... If it's a hybrid, what engine you got? What ECU you got? The way to read CEL codes depends on what you've got.

Besides, I'm surprised nobody told you to search. Your question's been answered a lot in the past.

92 accord/h22a p13 ecu/sometimes p72

I know in the lude the wires are beneath the center console (i think) to where you tap in, but not sure if it's the same with the accord?

Well, I am sure you can still check for codes (which is what I think you want) by locating the two wire plug beneath the passenger side of the dash, below the glove compartment. You can use a paper clip to jump the wires and read the codes the CEL flashes. If you're talking about the diagnosis port, then I don't think you can check that without the proper machine. They sell readers at many part stores out there, but I am not sure if they help any better than finding codes.

P.S. You will need to know the codes for the Prelude ECU you have, and not the Accord FYI.

We're talking about cars that I don't own, so I gotta be kinda general...

If a '92 Accord has the service connector under the glovebox, that will only work if your Prelude(?) ECM is hooked up to those same wires. I'm not sure if EVERY wire in the ECM connectors goes to the same places (Accord vs. Prelude). If not, all you need is to know which terminal it is on the ECM, & jumper it to ground.

Older Hondas (how old??) had blinking LED's right on the ECU. You don't jumper any wires, just pull back the carpet & look.

The ECM's you're talking about are all OBD-1 (are they really?), so the code scanners don't really have any advantage. For diagnosis, you still have to do some troubleshooting. The fault code simply narrows it down to one SYSTEM. Even today it doesn't tell you exactly what's wrong.

I think Honda pretty much uses the same fault codes for all their cars anyway?
