00 accordcoupe..wiring for headlights to dash...help my DIY girl out
My gf has been wiring her jvc stereo from her 94 4 door accord to her new 00 v6 coupe the last 6 hours. She cany figure out which wires to wire the headlights to synchronize with the dashlights. She's wired it where the dashlights come on without the headlights on but no luck with synchronizing it. I suggested a wiring harness but she likes to do things herself. Anyway, any help would be great , i want to sleep tonight. Oh yeah she didnt know what to do with the yellow, orange, blue/white stripe ones either.
relays come in handy when u need to wire something up. I'm not to familier with accords wiring. but if you add in a relay to also activate ur headlights when the parkings lamps are on. It should work nicely.
I have used relays to to wire my side markers to come on with parking light and to flash with the blinkers. Used them for making my own ignition switched fused box. etc. hehe bottom line. they are handy to have around.

OMG!
Let's start from the beginnig.
She don't wanna use the wire harness, eh? So...she cut off the factory radio plugs?
She needs to know which wire is the ground. There is only one. The proper one. That one goes to the black from the aftermarket radio.
The Yellow one is the main power and memory. That goes to the one that has 12V all the time, even without the keys in the ignition switch.
The red one goes to the wire that shows 12V when you put the key in the ACC. (accessory) position. Sometimes, IGN. ignition.
The orange wire is the Illumination wire, not dimmer! This wire goes to the one that shows 12V when you turn on your parking lights or dash lights. No head lights. Anyway, there are not head lights related wires behind a radio harness.
Some radios, come with two orange wires. Orange, dash light. Orange w/white stripe, dimmer (or viceversa) read on wires.
The blue w/white tracer goes to your power antenna. Some radios have two blue wires. One blue and one blue w/white strip. Normally blue turn on amp. lead and ble w/white, power antenna (or viceversa) read on wire.
Other radios, brown wire is cell phone mute input.
The rest are just speaker outputs:
Gray= Front right spk (+) Gray/black= Front right (-)
White= Front left spk (+) White/black= Front left (-)
Purple= Rear right spk (+) Purple/black= Rear right (-)
Green= Rear left spk (+) Green/black= Rear left (-)
Tools she needs: Test light or tester voltmeter, crimpers, wire stripper, red butt connectors or crimp caps, zip ties.
If she wants to be fancy, twist and solder the wires and use shrink tubing
Have a good sleep, my friend!
