Thinking of buying a clutch but stuck between the two. If i buy an ACT i would get the HC5-XTSS and whatever is comparable to it that Exedy makes. What would you guys prefer...

Same here, so I voted for ACT. I love my HDSS. Very streetable clutch that holds the power just fine. I've heard the XTSS is comparable but a little stiffer w/ obviously more torque-holding power.

i vote for act. I saw the exedy race clutches on ebay, but it seems it only holds roughly 270flywheel power. the ACT HD can hold that much easy. It depends on hp goals, if you are intending on making around 250whp+ you must go with act over thee exedy. the exedy wasn't designed for forced induction applications it hink. price is good though.
been running the ACT HDSS for 6 months now, grabs VERY nicely....overall its good stuff, the ONLY thing i dont like is the 'sqeaking' noise it has had lately when i engage 1st some times, which act says is normal to my understanding.
Both clutches are great. it shouldnt be a question of which is better, but which is better for you. The exedy organic is great for bolt ons, and close to stock performance. The ACT has a whole lineup to suite any needs, but for a car with just bolt ons, the exedy is definatly a great choice, and costs much less. The ACT HDSS is probally the most popular clutch we sell. Its for guys who want to stay streetable, but at the same time, have something they can goto the track with. The Exedy cerametalic is also very good, but to harsh for some. Same as the 6 puck ACT. That should be more for someone who beats teh crap out of their car, or needs alot of holding power. I would make your decision on whats best for you, not whats best for others. If you need more help, or details of each one, email me at sales@nolimitmotorsport.com Gluck!
where's the sqeeking noise coming from? Did you lube up the fork/throwout bearing contact points?
no limit.... hahaha
Give Foreign Autotech a try, I've spent over 4 grand with them....they're authorized ACT Distributors (650) 589-3100
