b20/vtec guys Cams? jun3 specC valve/piston clearence ?
whats goin on, im posting for a friend. Its time for cams in the ol' b20 hatch.
heres the specs... IB B20 block 11.8:1 gsr head.
Are there any concerns with piston/valve clearence with a high lift cam such as a jun3 or spec c ?
springs and retainers will btoh be upgraded. its a daily driven car so we dont really have the time to pull the head off and clay it before he purchases the cams. what would you recomend ?
cool with jun3 or specC or should i tell him to go a little smaller say a spec b or jun2 ?
thanks

i believe there might be some small issues with clearance if you are runing the bigger cams. all you need to do is take a dremel and grind out the valve reliefs on the intake side and you should be golden. well, thats what i did anyways and it seemed to work out pretty good. i'm running skunk 2 stage 3 cams in my b20 vtec, no problems so far.
Hmm...Hes not ona stock bottom end, its IB b20...probe rods and 11.8:1, i dont know if that changes anything...
yea i dont think hes gona want to get into all that. Say he was to go with Jun II would he be ok with out girnding valve reliefs ?
assuieB20vtec..were deffinatly going to clay the motor, just that we dont have time to do it now, before the purchase...meaning were going to clay it the day we put them in, that way we cna just do it all in one day since most of the head is coming apart anyway...i know it doesnt seem practical but id rather do it that day then not do it at all. of coarse if we clay and we dont have enough clearence then hes going to have to return the cams...ect ect...
