Default Engine wiring harness compatability Q's

Hey everyone.Im buying a 89 crx dx that had a b16 swap. The guy sold that b16 to someone with the car's wiring harness attached.I was given a harness but its for a 88-91 Si and i know that doesnt plug in.Can i use one from a STD Civic? How about a CRX HF?Since he already wired for mpfi....is there going to be anything im going to have to extra?Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance...

are you running the stock engine with DPFI? if so get a STD or DX engine harness but you will also have to change a few wires under the dash. two for dist and 2 for injectors. Bassically do the opposite of this http://www.geocities.com/c_rexboy/mpfi.html .

88-91 harnesses are not all the same.

Dude, that is tricky.
Your best bet is to find an 89 DX harness and rewire the MPFI and VTEC part.
The harnesses between 88-89 and 90-91 are different.
I would not even try to guess if the Civic harness would be a plug in in your CRX.
Considering that you have to modify the harness that goes to the ECU in your car, you need to see what they did to modify it. You need to know how they ran the wires for the distributor (blue green and blue yellow) and also how they ran the wires for the two extra injectors. then you know how to modify the DX harness to make it work.

Whats the difference? So you are sayin, for example, a 91 civic SI engine harness is different from a 88 civic SI engine harness?
I know the underdash part is different...

yes they are.
One difference you notice right away, is the plug at the driver side.
The 88 si uses a rectangular plug while the 90-91 Si uses a round plug with two extra wires. there are more differences.
