Looking to buy S2K, wanted some advice
Hey guys I am looking into getting an S2000 in the next month or two. I have seen numerous S2k's going to $20-23k with under 50,000 miles. The cars are usually one owner and have nothing done to them. That is exactly what I am looking for. I am curious to know how many of you guys drive your S2k's ever single day. This would be my only car atleast for about and year so I was wondering how they hold up. Any help and tips in buying one will be much appreciated. Thanks in Advance

I am also interested to see what responses are, I haven't had the opportunity YET to own one of these, but I have driven two or three on test drives, what a car it is.
It's a tough to have only car. No utility function at all. If you buy it, be sure to autocross it. That'll help you not care that it can't haul any 2x4's back from Home Depot. If you just need to get yourself and occasionally someone else from point a to b, the s2k is perfect for that.
Wait for the 2004.... it should give you enough time to save up a decent down payment...
I only drive my S2000 on the weekends...

I have a pretty decent down payment right now. Plus I need if for this school semester. Thanks for the input everyone. I really dont have any untility needs at all if any. I also dont have any friends so having only one spare seat is no problem.

That is my exact intent...... to autocross it, as soon as I get one.

I'd disagree in general with the thoughts going around. I'd wanted an s2k since they came out. Last year, at the end of my first year of grad school, I closed the deal and bought a used '00 with 24k on the clock. It's awesome!! I daily drive mine and it's my only car. It carries just about everything I need it to, and if I really need to get something that doesn't fit, then I borrow a friend and get them to drive. Doesn't happen very often at all though.
If you can afford it without stretching at all, then go for it!

Munckee, It sounds as if you were in the exact same situation I am. I really have no need at all for a trunk or back seats. The only thing I need is something reliable and that will make all the driving I do as enjoyable as possible. Sounds like there are quite a few people that daily drive their S2k and thats what I wanted to hear. I was afraid they all might be used as a weekend cruiser or track bitch. Thanks again for all the replies. Hope to be a member very soon.
It's not that I don't need a trunk; I need one very much. I just manage to make the s2k trunk work for me. I climb a lot, and have been known to load the trunk to the brim with gear. I just drove back from St. louis to austin with two months worth of "stuff" in the car.
A couple of hints: If you're roadtripping, pack directly into the trunk rather than into a suitcase. If you need to, throw a laundry bag or something in to carry with.
Take the tool kit out of the bottom of the trunk and store the tools on top of the spare; it clears up a LOT of spare space in the bottom of the trunk well.
Just make it work! I moved over the weekend, so I had my roommate help me out with his pick up truck. No biggie.

I have abosuletly no need for a trunk, the most I ever have in my car are school books. I live with my parents still and they have a spare truck if anything were to ever come up so I'm in good shape
