i don't plan on driving the car i just bought until after the engine work it needs. possibly up to 3 months time before it will actually sees it. and i would rather not buy a tag, but someone said that if i don't buy a tag within the next ten days i would have a fine. is there anyway to show them that i will not be driving the car so that i don't have to buy the tag right off? any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

 

It depends on your state. Here in WI you can buy a car and wait as long as you want to get "Tags" for it. Just call the DMV and ask.

 

Here in FL all you need to do is have the car registered within 1 month I think. You dont have to put tags on it until you want to.

 

In Michigan, You need to transfer the Title within 10 days, but don't need to get license plates until you want to..
