I want ur opinion.....$1500
I been workin my *** off movin furniture all summer and i got about 1500 to put into my now stock CRX dx. I wanna do a swap obviously, and i could probly do it myself, but i dont have a shop to do it in. So im wondering what u guys would do with it. I just wanna hear some opinions..Thanks
well i'm currently working on a swap into a 90 Civic so its pretty much the same thing. well you see the price of $1250 for a B16 on hmotorsonline and think you can do it. well you also need to add in mounts which i paid another $350 for the hasport ones. my total came to $1927 shipped for it. then you still need linkage and axles, plus a few little things. i believe you will also need SI hubs (i may be wrong. correct me if i am) the only tools that are necessary are some good wrenches or sockets and something to jack the car up far enough. it would also be good to have an engine hoist, although it can be done without one but very difficult. although you could go with the ZC swap if youre interested. if you want that instead i'm not sure what all it needed so maybe someone else can help you with that.
D16z6= 300-400
Si Tranny= 200-300
Junkyard Turbo= 500
At the most you may be looking at around 1200. So you still would have around 300 bucks for odds and ends. And you'd be pretty damn quick

Unfortunately i also need this to be CA smog legal, so no junkyard turbos for me. I wish i could though, i cant even really see me having enough to get into a B series swap, cuz of the cost of the damn mounts and axles. I think ill go D16z6, put some money into that, and then get other **** like new tires, suspension etc.. thanks for your opinions guys. Shoot me any more ideas you have.
your in the same situation as me, the money you can save can easily make a Z6 the speed of a B16... OBD1 will give it 10 hp (so buy the harness, someone on here sells it), get the P28 ECU, and the Si tranny
looking at a mid to low 15 sec car, for less than a $1000 - add I/H/E with that money saved, high 14's would be no problem
AND you got a newer motor

IMO:
Go for a VAFC, not exactly smog legal, but tuneable and hideable. If you do a good job wiring it and throw it behind the center console the smog place will probably look right over it.
