Just got my engine rebuilt....... break in procedures????
Hey guys, 98ITR406 is back on the streets again! After about a month of waiting for the labor to be done and the great help of getting parts to me from Dan Phan and Dan (Godspeed Motorsports), I finally got my car up and running on Thursday night. I have installed the JDM ITR Pistons (Spoon Balanced) and JDM Final Drive. I was wondering what kind of break in procedures you guys with engine rebuilding experience would reccommend? I now have 420 miles on the engine, I have only dipped into vtec once (6100 rpm), and that was just to make sure that vtec was engaging. I have been trying to stay away from constant rpm speeds (highway driving) and I have been doing alot of stop-and-go driving on it. Accellerating to about 5000 and the decelerating, and then going through the next gear. Do you guys think this process is ok? The tech who rebuilt it reccommended this. Also, when do you think I will be able to take it to REDLINE safely??? I also used to SCCA religiously, when would you guys reccommend me going back to it?
I hope that all this is worth my baby not bieing able to make it to the EXPO. It was awsome to be there, but a torture not to have my car there. Especially after planning to go there since the EXPO idea was conceived, but i did get some fellow UTAH ITR's there
Any input on the breaking in of my motor would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!
Once again, much thanks to Dan Phan and Dan (Godspeed Motorsports) for all the great service. I will be reccommending you guys and purchasing items from you in the future.

??? 105~300 miles??
I have been told to put 1000 miles or 1650 and some change Km on my car by T.O.*. right now I have 1572 km Just a tad bit more ...?But Sh*t I have see some builders recomend 500 miles and let it rip..not to sure about that one
But I started buy not going over 3500rpm and every 200 miles increase the limit but 500 rpm...
Just don't take that engine in to 5000+ if you are before 500 miles ...
Just my 2 yen..

I have been going to about 5400 RPM, till about 800 miles. After that, i went into vtec a few times to about 7200. But only twice. I have changed my oil once already too. The rebuilder told me to do it to get all the assembly lube out. I am using the cheep oil that they have at the dealership (thats where I work) Do you think that my break in procedures were bad???
