How much does a good paint job run? I have never gotten a car painted so I don't know what to expect and need to know what to ask for at a shop. I recently purchased a 92 VX hatch in the stock red, theres a dent on the left side and I need to get that pulled and the car repainted.

My Options
1. How much would it cost to get the outside repainted the same color red?
2. How much would it cost to get the outside and inside repainted the same color red?
3. How much would it cost to get the outside and inside painted a new color?

I want them to do a good job so if there are any tips on what I should do to prep to make the job cheaper like stripping the interior etc let me know. I don't know how to sand the car down and things like that and I don't really want to take the risk of messing things up so I rather leave that to a professional.

 

Hard to believe that no one on here has ever gotten a paint job...

Different shops charge different prices depending on area
you should keep a day aside and go shopping like you go lookin for a car but go looking for a paint job instead,,,,,,,, ask couple body shops but choose a differnet color that you want just incase you do wanna change it

you can get cheap paint like aumony (PPG single stage paint also could buy in base clear but still dont provide much UV protection) and it will last a bit but not long because its really cheap

you cold go with base clear DBU, DBC( this is quality paint and should last for a long time to come kinda like your oem finish mostlikely has)

you could also go with extra stages such as a pearl coat or several pearl coats

this is kinda the ppg line and not all body shops use it but the other paint companies got simular product also suck as,,,,,,,,,,,dupont,, sikkens,,, shermin williams,,etc..............

an also telling you red (no matalic color) is the most expensives color becasuse of the pigment in the paint ,,,,

So the color makes a difference too? What if I just get it painted some shade of white? Would Championship White be expensive since its a Honda factory color?

white and black are the cheapest colorsto get but they will still cost because of the paint quality and there is a limit to everything that it has to meet (black shows all imperfections,,,,,,,,,,,, white hides imperfections) and as i said before it also depends on the quality of the body work and the prep time needed to paint,,,,,,,, nicer paint jobs cost more then backyard paint jobs
