Skunk2 Springs and Retainers
ive done a search...with no luck just wondering if anybody else has used the skunk2 springs in their vavle train and had any of em break??? ran into this problem this week only had em car about 8 months bout 40,000km......going with jun3's instead now....
are you serious they broke?? damn that sucks... i always thought skunk2 products were high quality. i got the skunk2 valve train stuff as well, i hope i dont run into that problem. Did you do anything to make it happen or was it after just wear and tear of normal driving?
Anything can break if not installed properly..Not saying that is the case just my opinion..I've heard of all kinds of cams break as well as all sorts of cam gears slipping and retainers wearing out as well..Hell if I had to avoid all of that stuff I might as well keep my car stock
I am putting in my stage 2s with skunk2 retainers+springs soon..I trust they make good products

Good luck with the springs my friend.
It wouldn't be professional for me to go around saying certain things about these springs but then again it wouldn't be ethical for me not to warn people knowing what I know.

You can always try the crower set-up.I havnt heard anything bad about it so far,or you can get the portflow spring set and retainers.

what I'm more interested Rocket, is if you actually did testing yourself to come to that conclusion or if a ex-skunk2 employee has some negative things to say.

Im sorry to hear your problem. Look at it from another perspective. You are putting race parts on a daily driven car. The cars these products are tested on are race cars and the motors never see 40k less lone 10k....So just think about when you start using "some" aftermarket parts that are geared towards race cars instead of daily driven cars. You are putting a lot more wear and tear on them versus a race motor. I think skunk is a good product and will use them if neccessary. my .02 cents.
ihotteg and fasthatch...tks for input...will see if it was retainer...have nothing against skunk2.....car isnt daily driven...will keep an eye on the jun3's im putting in now tho....thks

I've visually physically inpsected on my spring tester the Skunk2 spring and didn't find them to be at all impressive.
Out of professionalism I won't say more than that I don't like them.
