You will not be able to come close to S2000 with a stock Miata.

mine weighs 2730 with me and a full tank of gas.
bone stock it dynos at 199.5 to the wheels.
Injen Cold air intake is supposed to make an extra 6 to the wheels but Im still waiting for the sucker to be available. Supercharged it puts nearly 250 to the ground.

All the numbers I've seen say the Comptech SC puts out a solid extra 90 to 100 hp at the rear wheels (putting it in the 290 range). Actually, I better check that last edition of SCC first...

And if the car is really that light (have you removed any weight?), then it's no wonder the car is a lot faster than the numbers make it sound like it should be.

Everyone I've talked to with an S2K also says that it keeps getting stronger for several thousand miles.

i've heard reports of unmodified s2k's weighing as little as 2650 lbs (probably with gas on E, no spare and no driver), although the average seems to be closer to 2750 lbs.

oh, and yes most SC S2K's put about 280-300 HP to the wheels if properly tuned. these should be high 12 second cars and anyone should manage 13's pretty easily.

1400 front, 1380 rear on the truck scales on southbound I5 in Fife, WA.
This was stock trim with 3/4 tank of gas.

The car weights 2600 lbs with no driver and half tank of gas. With the supercharger it is even harder to launch the car. Low 13's are possible but high 12's are very unlikely.

Will this be before or after you lead the gay rally parade in your cute little ***-mobile?
LOL, that's hilarious.

Anyhow, you won't be able to touch an S2K in a straight line unless you turbocharge your miata. You may be able to give one fits in autocross though if you're an excellent driver.

328 WHP corrected (turbo) stock engine. No problems at all with driveline or engine. 345 uncorrected, BTW.

S2000s are quite capable at autocross, too. They go in A-stock, while miatas are in B-stock and C-stock. And at the local events here in PacNW, there are two McKamey instructors that drive S2000s, and at least 1 national champion who drives a miata. The S2000s are always faster in raw time, and very often also faster in PAXed time.

this is true until next year when the S will be classed in a new AS, which includes most of this year's SS cars (e.g. boxster S, m coupe, C4/C5(?)). personally, i think the reclassification is a mistake...they're doing it only becasue the S2k beat up on everyone else early on this season. since that time, the boxster (base) has made a strong comeback. i already struggle to keep up with some S4s and E36 M3s in the current AS...i will not have much fun at all in the new AS next year.
double-

PLEASE VOTE "NO" TO RECLASSIFICATION

A turbocharged miata will have NO trouble whooping up on an S2K

Miatas wiegh 2200-2400 depending on year. And on average, put out 200-240HP to the wheels. Btw, what makes the miata such a "gay" car? Seems strange coming from people with cars based on the same concept as the miata........ (light weight, rear wheel drive, open top 2 seaters.)

Anytime any place S2k boys!

The Honda website rates the S2K at 2809 lbs probably with at least a half tank of fuel. No way their gonna be down to 2600 something.

Miata's are gay though. I beat up on them when they first started making them 10yrs ago with my moms V-8 station wagon. A lot of girls say they are cute. Anyway If you have one with a turbo I can respect it at least because it's fast.

Why would Honda state the wieght to be so much more if it weighs so little??

Interesting...... (I'm not questioning you guys, I believe you)

Thank you for re-enforcing my point.

A station wagon is GAY and nobody disputes that right? So if I could beat a miata in my moms automatic station wagon that would make the miata even ......what? Come on say it with me .... YES more GAY than a station wagon. I drove that to work for the first two months after I turned 16 and then bought a Z car.

You can make anything fast with a turbo but from the factory these cars are weak as a kitten. I remember all the hype when they first came out. People shelled out a ton of cash just to own these cars--- see "New VW bug , PT Cruiser or even to some extent the Plymouth Prowler". The kind of cars your grandma or parents commented on as cute or interesting when they saw one driving just because they looked different than anything else. Diversity for diversities sake is not cool! In my opinion the Mazda engineers really fucked up on the Miata by forgeting to put a decent motor in the car. IF they put a TT rotary in that car i'd be interested but I won't hold my breath.

What's wrong with Miata? I like the older modle Miata though (91-93). The new ones are too bulky in weight and not like the old machines. Saw a 340hp miata at a dyno the other day... whoa.
