Default Help cold air intake added to 90 CRX now car cuts out at high rpms whats going on?

This is going on with a guy I know. I think he has a DX model it has a small black circular looking intake with this CAI hooked to it. I am familiar with my CRX Si model which has a longer rectangular intake on it. The guy says it did not do that with the stock intake pipe set-up on it. He says when the car revs high the rpms shut down or limit themselves until the car is cut off and the cranked again. Sounds like a sensor or computer problem. What do you think??

Thanks,

SteveD

How can that be overcome?
I really dont know what engine he has in it but I think it is a stock basic model with a 5 spd.
