Just got my car all working but LOW IDLE and 1/2 second of hesitation on hard revs...
I just got all my wiring finished and everything hooked up right in my 88 CRX as well as no longer throwing any codes since the swap (D16Y8 w/P28). I'm dying to get her out on the road to tear it up however the car's idle drops to about 400 rpm's when warm and then when i go to rev it good and hard there is hesitation for a split second before the tach shoots up. I just replaced the High Idle Control Valve with the swap, and i had my Idle Air Control Valve checked out by a honda mechanic who said it is ok. Once the engine gets past the initial 1/2 second hesitation it's smooth sailing. Anyone have/had this problem??? Thanks
I am having the same problem, I floor it and it dosnt move then all of a sudden it takes off. My Vtec dosnt work either. Ecu is also a p28, the guy I bought the car from said it has a 94 si ecu, injectors, dist. Obd 2 to Obd 1??. No check engine light. I am lost also!!????

you've got a p28 as well but what engine do you have? It's really pissing me off cause everything is hooked up right and it should work! PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!
i just did the timing on my car, i picked up a timing gun on the way home from work for like $35 at pep boys. It was a great investment considering my car needed to be advanced a whole lot. Now my idle is at around 600 which is still kind of low...and i think i can hear maybe .1 second hesitation but hey it's a lot better than it was.
I set the timing to the stock settings for my Y8 but i have heard of people advancing them for better horsepower...is this a good idea? any info would be great, THANKS!

1) Adjust Idle
2) Sounds like fuel filter... could be spark plugs... in other words... a TUNE-UP is in order. Also check timing...

If Vtec is not wired up right will that be the problem? I will check my plugs and filters. Thats simple. Thanks for the info.
