Default HELP: Lug Nuts

ok so i tried to take off my racing harts today so i could mount my slips..but i found out that the owner before (who bought the racing harts) put on 17mm lug nuts...i tried using a torque wrench but it didnt work...the stock wrench obviously didnt work (i think its for 19mm)..

what can i do? i dont want to pay a shop just to have 17mm lug nuts removed..is there anything i can do to try and get them off??
