wierd problem

i have a 91 civic 4 door lx standard and after a little bit of driving the stick and the ebrake and the plastic around it got very hot and stayed hot anyone have a clue why it gets so hot thanks

No heat shield underneath the car? It is just the exhaust heating it up.
