against my advice my gf wants to buy a 2000 V6 coupe, need advice on HondaCare warranty
My girlfriend is buying a 2000 V6 EX coupe from a GMC dealership (a trade in). Anyway they want $14,000 for it but the car has a defective moonroof and airbag light that they are sending to their Honda dealership to fix for free. I know the transmission is covered up to 100k miles by Honda's extended tyranny warranty but I think she should buy a 100k mile HondaCare warranty as well. Problem is tat the sales rep she called told her that they dont sell such a warranty, she's never heard it plus if she wants to buy a warranty they only sell yearly ones for roughly $600 per year, not including deductibles for any repairs. The sales rep is BSing her right? Anyone with a Honda Care warranty, can ya please enligten me on this, let me know how much you paid for yours and where. I dont want her to be stuck with major repairs later. I am not sure if it is a safe bet to buy from a Honda noncertified. BTW, is $14k reasonable for a car that may have a faulty tyranny?
i don't think you can buy a hondacare warranty unless it's new or you already have one and you want to extend it.
there are some online companies that sell warranties.

Can't offer any input on the warranty issue, but I believe, by law, the dealer has to provide the name and phone number of the previous owner. Call the previous owner and ask if they've had any repeat problems with the car and why they got rid of it. That may give you more information to decide on buying any extended warranty. BTW, check out edmunds.com for used car valuea to see if what the dealer wants is in the ballpark.
FWIW, when it comes to new Honda vehicles, it's my opinion that any extended warranty policy is a crap shoot at best and mostly benefits the dealer. I have not and will never purchase such a policy.

I am pretty sure you can get a honda care policy on a used honda, check your local dealer to be sure.
Good question. As far as I know, you can get Honda Care on qualified used Hondas but you have to buy the car at a Honda dealer. This way Honda Care will only have to pay the warranty rate on all repairs and they'll be able to screw the technicians a lot easier.
