Hey, I have noticed that for the past couple weeks there has been this whining sound. I thought it was from the engine, but could only hear it from inside the cabin. It has gotten progressively worse. Sounds like a high pitched whine that gets a little bit louder as you step on the gas. It sounds like its coming from the fuel tank area. Anyone else have this problem? How do you shut it up?

My walbro is noisy only when the fuel is less than half a tank. It sounds like an annoying whine. Fill her up and it goes away.

 

Thats why the other name for Walbro is "Winebro" .

The best part is, when you turn on your turn signal, it changes pitch everytime the arrow lights up :D.

 

mine sounds like that... sounds even louder after driving around for a while..

 

yup it hums/wines all the time. even louder when gas gets low. can only hear it with the radio off tho

if its getting louder, dont boost. you need a new fuel pump

 

when it whines it assures me that its pumping its *** off, good to knoe its working =X

 

mine gets louder as the rpms get higher, it's great. hahaha

when a fuel pump gets excessively loud that means that there is a loss of tolerance inside the pump mechanism and it is either cavitating or else simply vibrating like hell. it usually means its time for a new one. It does not mean it is working well.

 

this wine that everyone is talking about....... is it like as loud as a whistel on a CAI kinda noise?


I just bought one and haven't installed it. I didn't think it was going to be that bad! I hate stuff like that..........annoys the hell out of me.


Maybe I should sell it and get a Supra TT pump

It isn't that bad. You can't hear it if you have the radio on. Just like when you start up the car or just put the car to On you can here it. What do you expect? It's pumping 255 lph lol.

 

If u dont have the back seats, its even louder but I dont hear it when my radio is on

 

Well, at least its not just me. Its so annoying though and i know its not from the engine. Just hope nothing is wrong.

Well with my cars I don't listen to music at all... only when i'm out at night crusing or with some buddies. Every day to work and back the music is off 95% of the time and I just like listening and getting familiar with the tunes of my motor and suspension. I can hear the slightest thing like a buzz, sqeek ect.... small stuff like that just riddes on my nerves...

hum... I'll install it and see how the much of the noise i can take.

So how noisy is this noisy Walbro then?? Anyone tested it with a dB meter?? So it can still be heard even with 3" exhaust blaring?

 

No not that loud. You can hear it mainly when you are at idle, or when the radio is low. My girlfriend heard it from outside the car. "whats that high pitch sound your car is making".....lol

 

if you can hear a BUZZZZZZZZZZZZ from 100 feet away you need a new fuel pump

otherwise, high flow pumps are just loud. You can complain until you have heard a paxton or aeromotive

Try living with a Bosch.... Then you'll realize that the Walbro is QUIET....

 

Im guessing there is no way to shut it up? Its not loud at all, I would just rather it be quiet..hehe

 

lol... the hum/ whine comes with the territory... most higher flow pumps are somewhat noisey.

try listening to a aermotive setup...

I kinda like it myself.

 

I just layed down a layer of dynomat and that was enough to make it go away. I still hear it outside the car.
