Default ZC Engine Swap

Alright, I have the ZC engine, tranny and CPU. Now, someone told me that if you put 87 octane gas into it, it will blow up. I think the kid is full of ****, but just to be on the safe side, is that true?

Also, I'm putting it into an 89 SI, what sort of problems might occur?

Thanks

Whoever told you 87 would blow your car up is a dumb-***, 87 will not blow up your car. As far as swap problems go as long as you know what your doing the swap should go pretty smoothly.

Just did a zc swap into my gf's 89 civic si, its runnign like crap right now but we're using 86 octane and it just beat my teg last night. grr. Point being, no, it won't blow up your motor. Give that kid an "***-Clown Type R" Award for not knowing what the hell he is talking about.

87 octane should be ok, but just to be safe I'd run 89 if you're going to run it hard. Some of these older engines have deposits on the pistons which = a higher compression ratio, or if you're going to advance the timing you need to run higher octane gasoline.

ahahha that kid is a joke d00d.. 87 octane which is like REGULAR.. thats the minimum thats recommended for a zc.. since the compression is so dam high.. but my buddy has zc turbo and we use 94 octane... runs wicked

For the longest time I ran 87, then I switched to 89. It runs so much nicer. No pings at all. I only had pinging under HARD acceleration...now none at all. Spent the extra few bucks on 89. It's worth it.
