i would save up another $300 and buy CTR pistons and new bearings and ARP rod bolts.

lightningmotorsports.com

34.00$

get some stock pr3 pistons. that will up your compression to 11-3-1 which will be much nicer then over 12-1 with CTR pistons.

im not 100% sure, but i dont think there is much valve clearence on a stock ls bottom end. might want to clay the motor for clearances before you bolt everything on and rev to 8k

talk to "omniman" about getting some extra info or him building up the motor for you

i think paul_vang has the required oil lines you would need to get too

Paul_vang also sells the dowel pins that require no maching of the head to install it and have the head sit properly. I used them on my motor and they were a nice fit.

also bob-dc2 is right on with the valve clearance issues, be sure to check that because i think that the b16 head on the stock b20 bottom end doesnt clear, but dont quote me on that. you will need to get some of the 81 mm vtec pistons, with the vtec valve relifs.

good luck!

as a matter of fact i take back my previous post, with a block that old i would go with an over sized piston. reason being that, pistons have thrust sides, and after time and wear they tend to oval, as do the sleeves some times in more extreme circumstances. going over bore is a nice way to make sure you have a new perfectly circular piston and a new perfectly circular cyl. wall.

an over sized p30 (JDM SiRII b16) piston with a nice fresh bore and hone on your walls would be nice. this would put you at about i think 11.6:1 ish not sure though.

EDIT: mabye at 11.9 with a gsr head...check http://www.cspeedracing.com and go to compression calc.

i have us itr pistons .25 oversize w/ gsr head and comp is 11.7...no valve to piston issues even with spec C cams w/ 3 degrees advanced on the intake cam. Rev 8.5 to 9.5 all day long...daily driver and weekend autoX.

Another suggestion, invest on aftermarket rods like eagle (but would need to use forged pistons, to much work mating it with CTR's or other oem cast pistons) so you can rev above 9K with no worries. I 2nd the balance and blueprinting along with ARP rod and head bolts.

ok this is my question im having everyone telling something different with the pistons im not planning to rev it to 8-9k all the time mainly only on the track so with is being my daily driver most of the time and with 120k on it what would be the best pistons for it

dude the pistons and compression doesnt necessarily have to do with revving, thats the bottom end, ie balancing, rods/bolts.

compression has to do with pinging and detonation, depending on where you are and what octane gas available, somewhere around 12:1 would be a decent set up for 91ish.

check out http://www.c-speedracing.com under the how to section for compressions. I would think that p30s would do the trick. hth

Just put some oversized ctr's in the motor. and if i were you i would just buy some rods, i recomend probes rods they are light as hell and they are stronger than the eagles. no you won't have a problem with the pistons tapping the head either, everyone who says you will just doesn't know how to build motors
