timing the dizzy - question about procedure
sorry if this has been asked before...
Id like to know when I mess with the distributor timing, does my 91 crx dx need anything to be jumpered? I'm aware that for my obd1 gsr to keep the ecu from interfering with the timing adjustment you jumper the service plug thing... wondering if it's the same for the obd0 crx. tia

Yup, mine has a small blue plug right under the dash area where the kickpanel is on the pass side. Stick in a paper clip. If you have a helms or such it spells it all out for you.
I checked my distributor timing today and it is way off. I advanced the dizzy all the way (towards the firewall) and it is not even close to 16degrees... it is about 8-10 degrees retarded from spec. (warmed the engine up and jumpered the plug thing before i adjusted it)
I checked the timing belt to see if it was off a tooth but it is right on the mark. Per the online helms manual the DX camgear is lined up parallel to the head and the Si cam is timed with the upper backside tbelt cover. I lined it up how the helms tells you for the DX.
However, I noticed my DX has a mark on the camgear that can line up with the mark on the back tbelt cover. On CRX SI http://www.crxsi.com/resources...9.htm they clearly show a DX camgear with no mark for this, yet my DX has this mark. Do you think I should line it like the Si method? Otherwise I am stumped why the timing is off so much... suggestions appreciated.
