Discovery Channel Show - Need racers 18-24
A Discovery Channel Show is searching for 2 racers to be part of 'Rocket Cars' (Working Title). We need you to be 18-24, someone who lives, breathes and races cars! We are looking to paint a real picture of the scene (Not F&F) and create a 'Monster Garage' style show. Currently it is a one hour special, but we are hoping to make it into a series. I have the Tuners already cast, but I need to cast the racers by the end of this week at the latest. Call, or email me with any questions and spread the word.

With 18-24 year olds, I would have bet the genre they are looking for is drag racing. 24-35 is where you'll find the roadracers/autocrossers. And to be honest, the older guys are the ones with the best knowledge about chassis setup. Seems that all the younger kids want is go-fast parts.
It's a shame, because I'd like to see someone actually build a "Pocket Rocket" with the mindset of roadracing or autocross. There are 20, 000 shows about making a Honda fast in a straight line.
Good offer nonetheless.

The show will be in southern Cali around the LA area. It 's far more about the street scene. i'll stress again.......i need the racers to be 18-24.

There are a few of us younger than the typical 24-35 age range. I'm only 21 still.
It would be nice to see a show like this on road racing/auto-x. Doubt it will ever happen though.

However had I known it focused on drag racing Iwouldn't have bothered.

Yeah, I hope that is not the case.
My only problem with someone so young is because 90% of those guys are more interested in bling and straight-line drag racing. There are exceptions and I hope one of them can be found. But when I hear the word "tuners", I get a little scared about what this show will be all about.

I hope this is also not another show glorifying street racing. First of all it's ILLEGAL and secondly it's really not REAL racing if you have to run from the law. I know I'm going to get slammed for that one.
Most of the REAL racers are not that age group either - yes there are some exceptions, but realistically a REAL racer has a 9-5 job, married, house, and steady income. The age group you want is not realistic. Just my opinion.

Wrong forum, then. Those aren't racers either.

Do you want someone with any particular car experience? Any real up and coming racers that age are probably going to be on the shifter kart scene or doing dirt track racing.
OK so I'm way over 50. The group I run with are very mature roadracers. Most of our cars are either dedicated race or fully setup HPDE machines. Sadly, you have limited participation to the western end of the country. Road racing had its treu beginnings with people like me in the East. Come out here and see what we have to offer before closing on your search. Our tracks are the top of the crop (Mid Ohio, Watkins Glen, Summit Point and BeaveRun to name a few).
Our youth followers are indeed very serious about chassis setups, but do have a thing for "go fast" parts as well. I'd really enjoy showing you my CRX that is bone stock under the hood-with 2 exceptions (header and intake). You should also check out SCCA.org and nasaproracing.com.

Hmm, reminds me of the show "The Wrench" It was run here in the South East before the NASCAR races on Fox. Got decent ratings I hear. The Tarheel Sprts Car Club ran an autocross for them. THey did several drag events and several autocrosses.
