Sorry for the somewhat crappy quality, was trying to keep the file size down. Feel free to critique.
edit: what sort of transfer speeds are you guys getting?

Nice. I started out at 230, and dropped to around 165 at the end.

Yeah, it was the first time I've run that track this year and I switched my gearing in the off season so I was little off with my shiftpoints. I didn't seen the limiter nearly as much on Sunday.

Nice vid and very nice lap, got nearly a meg/sec here at work.
Were you not heel-toe downshifting? Seemed like you weren't using engine braking at all, when braking was done you'd then downshift to the appropriate gear without rev matching.

It's no secret that I do not hell-toe. Floor it, brake hard, downshift. The only time I get in trouble is if I come in too hot into one at Summit. I know I probably should but for some reason it just hasn't been a priority to perfect.

Hrmm, bringing back an old subject where you criticized NASA's education system... That is one of the skills that must be learned before receiving a comp license (according to my "passport"), guess not for PCA

I never said I didn't know how to do it. I said I didn't choose to take the time to perfect it and therefore don't use it.

While I'm thinking of it.... it's one of those things that I could take the time to learn to do better but I don't have the opportunity. I'm not going to make myself slower by practicing a new technique like that on a race weekend when I can focus on things like braking later, braking less and keeping my foot planted more. I've said before that I would GREATLY benfit from additonal practice days but I just don't have the money or a way to get my car to random track weekends.
I've begun to realize that I've sort of kit a glass ceiling with where I'm finishing until I get a chance to get some more non-comp time in the car.

You drive your M3 to work every day, no?
Thats plenty enough time to practice. I practice looking ahead, shuffle steering, heel-toe every day when i drive.

I can't tell you how many NASA racers I know who do not heel/toe downshift.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I think Mike was referring to the "official" NASA HPDE-to comp license progression, where Heel Toe Downshift is listed as a skill for advanced group, and thus theoretically would be a pre-requisite for the comp school.
Chris why dont you try the Heel&Toe in practice sessions? Since you already know how to do it Im sure its just a matter of a little practice before you get it consistent enough.

heel&toe is very different on the track than the street. You dont threshold brake on the street (or you shouldnt be anyway) and you are operating at much lower RPMs. Practicing on the street is useful to learn the motions and develop the muscle memory , but isnt all that great in direct translation.
