Default k20 clutch? cable or hydo?

a lot of people talking on h-t say that the k20's clutch is hydro, but my friend with an ep3 and my other with a DC5 both say that its hydro, and even the dealer said it was hydro.

now im not sure. can anyone clarify?

well, if people on h-t say it's hydro, and the ep3 & dc5 people say it's hydro, and the dealer agrees, then you might be thinking it's a hydro.

you would be correct, the transmission is a "hydro" transmission b/c it has a hydraulically actuated clutch. "cable" transmissions have a clutch that is actuated via cable.

the shift linkage doesn't determine wether a transmission is hydro or cable. a hydro tranny can have a cable shifter or a rod shifter

nobody said anything about a shift linkage?

and you dont need to explain things with their appropriate names, i know what they are, and i know how they work. i was just curious.

Struts are not a thing of the past tons of cars including BMW use them on the setups as well as a number of other front wheel drive cars use them.

And yes i'm talking about their sportier cars.

the confusion people have about the new transmission is related to the cable shifter that it has. They incorrectly refer to the transmission as a cable tranny b/c of the cable shifter.

i just mentioned it to clarify.
