Is this a real Si?
I looked at a 91 Si today. It was red with only 1 small rust spot and that was painted over.... So anyways I looked closer and it had manual mirrors and windows, yet had a sunroof. I thought the Si had all the power stuff stock....so is this a real Si or what? Or were those just Si options that obviously werent equipped? It looked like a d16a6 to me..
No you are mistaken the only power "options" EVER on a USDM CRX are power metal sunroof and power brakes. THAT'S IT. period. oh yeah tilt wheel but thats not power. LOL
*edit* Honda never offered "factory options". When you bought a certain trim level of a model you got all the "options" that that trim level came with.

Well...thanks for the info, thought I might be buying a fake somehow. Change of subject : it has 117,000 miles on it, and a small rust spot. Some minor paint issues. Full interior, and its pretty clean. They said it had some sort of upgraded interior to it....I have no idea what thats about...So assuming that its in pretty good condition...what should I offer him
Well without pix I would say in NJ in the condition you described.
You would pay AT LEAST $2000.00-2300.00.
But maybe things are cheaper where you live.
I hope so for your wallets sake. LOL
117,000 miles is pretty good for CRX, there are usually ALOT more miles than that on the ones I see for sale. 200,000 is not uncommon.
I have seen 100,000 mile cars with good interiors go for $3000. or more.
Seriously. Below 100,000 you can name your price. LOL

Well in comparison to the Hf and the DX, the Si is "upgraded" but I don't know if that's what you seller is talking about. Maybe he put something non-stock in and likes to think of that as an "upgrade".

Well, the "Original" seats that came in the 88-91 Dx and Si CRX's WERE
all made for honda BY Recaro. Unless he swapped in "genuine" Recaro aftermarket seats that shouldn't affect the price AT ALL.

Thats not really true at all. Maybe it is for the Si (but then again didn't Si have the option of that audio console to center console connector thing?). DX had option of passenger side mirror, rear speakers, rear cargo cover, A/C, stuff like that. So they did have options.

EDIT I forgot the easiest way to tell if it's really an Si. The VIN.
If the VIN starts JHMED9 it's an Si. If the VIN starts JHMED8 it's not.

"Dealer installed accessories" manufactured and supplied by Honda.
There were NO Factory Honda options up until the late 90's on Civics anyway. You bought the "options" you wanted by buying the "Trim level".
This I KNOW by the fact so many hondas in my family were bought NEW.

All these accessories that you call "options" could be puchased from the honda parts counter AFTER you bought say a DX. Where as the CRX Si came with it as part of the "Si option". A pass. side mirror, you could order that for your Dx and either you or the dealer could install it. Or say the rear cargo cover. The Si came with it, but you could buy it from your dealer to put in your Dx. But somethings that came with an Si you couldn't buy. Hence the tern "trim level". If you wanted an auto trans, the only choice was the Dx. If you wanted a light in your ashtray? The only choice was the Si. If you wanted a velvet lining in your glove box? The only "option" was buying an Si. Do you follow me? Honda built a certain number of cars a certain way with certain "options" and only so many of a certain color. Then your dealer would hunt the country for the trim level in the color you want. And ADD the accessories as "options" when they recieved the car from where ever. That's how it was done until the late 90's.

hey 4crx4me i hate to say it but your wrong about the options thing........when honda released there si's in 91 they did come with an option ......can anyone guess?????????? its called rear speakers...yes thats right rear speakers.....ever pop your trunk and notice that there are 2 wierd cup things on each side of your car back there??? well some si's came with speakers in those holders and some just have the cups....i have seen like 100 si's with cups and about 4 with speakers just because people werent really concerned with bumpin there car back in 91........so to answer you yes they came with options...a speaker option....i dont have them but i want them ive been to some junkyards and seen them but they are usually really fucked up because people leave them out in the open and rust is everywhere.......
Let's take a poll, how many people do YOU know who bought a honda NEW from a DEALER prior to something like 1996 or 97?
between myself and family members the number of hondas we have bought NEW from honda dealers is 6 or so. So I would think I know what I'm talking about. There were NO factory speaker or any other
"factory" options on hondas as I've said BEFORE. They didn't even COME with a radio!!! All these "OPTIONS" you keep talking about WERE NOT INSTALLED IN Japan on an assembly line. Hondas are not made to order, like american cars are. DO you understand?
They were accessories sold by honda to a dealer who put them in your car. You can believe me or not, I don't really care.
HTH
Ps. I think you can still get the rear speaker kit from a honda dealer, why don't you call some and SEE. HaHa
and it was only $150.
when I bought it, ten years ago.

My dad bought my 90 Si brand new off the lot. It came with rear speakers. (THEY SUCK) No AC... that's dealer installed. So yeah, no options, just dealer installed junk that isn't worth paying for anyway. Manual everything rocks.
