Where to get metal brackets?
I remember some people posting some links on some good places to buy metal for fabricating parts but I can't seem to find them.
I'm looking for a source for some "L" shaped aluminum brackets about 1/8" thick.

I used to use extruded aluminum angle for brackets like it sounds like you are describing - it has a nice radius on the inside of the bend so is really strong for its weight. The only problem is that I had to mill a flat on the inside of the 'L' - with a simple drill press - since the inside surfaces aren't parallel to the outside. Makes for very tough, light, trick-looking brackets though...

first go to orchard hardware, they have a limited assortment of stock metal. if you cant find something suitable, then you can just go to albany metal off 80, theyll have stock L brackets. not the cheapest and you have to pay for a cut charge, but thell have what you need. lastly, theres another metal warehouse on mare island just after the bridge on the way to sonoma. forgot what its called you can do a search. they have more sheet metal stuff which is why i had to go there, but its just a bit further away.
