Just swapped D16Y8 into 88 CRX Si for a friend. Where having problems.
We swapped in a 98 D16Y8 Vtec motor in to this Crx. The tranny that came with it was a hydrolic setup, and my friend didn't have money to pay for a hydro setup. So instead of using the tranny that came with the motor, we put his existing CRX tranny on the D16Y8 block. We used his same clutch and flywheel, and put new tranny fluid in the tranny. He's also using his stock ecu, for now until we find one for this motor.
Now the problem were having is the car starts up and the motor runs fine, but whenever he puts it in gear and lets off of the clutch the car doesn't move, it will roll just a little bit, like if someone is pushing it from the back and then stop.
if anyone knows what this could be PLEASE HELP. Any info would be helpful. I just trying to help out a friend.

I'm guessing you just need to adjust the clutch cable. Any stock CRX tranny will bolt up to the Y8 block just fine. However, the 88 tranny's have a different spline count than the 89-00's, so the 88 clutch is different than all the rest. But since you are using the 88 clutch, everything should be okay. So yeah, first check that clutch cable, chances are it isn't adjusted properly and isn't engauging/disenguaging completely.

Thanks for the info, i tried adjusting the clutch cable twice and we still have the same problem. One thin gi forgot to point out was that we are using the axles from the Y8 motor, not the ones that he already had on his CRX. Any chance that could be the problem.

Always use the axles that are for the tranny you are using. That sounds redundant... Anyways, did you use the clutch and flywheel from the 88? I'm almost positive that you have to, but the 88 is one of the smallest surface area clutches... If you did use the flywheel off of the Y8, the flywheel and clutch won't match up. That could also be your problem.

Yeah we did use the same clutch and flywheel for the 88. Im going to switch the axles, an dput back the ones from the crx and see if that helps. Thanks for the help.
